Finding Your Own Path: Why Every Healer’s Journey is Unique

When I first started out, I went to every course, class and workshop I could find. I was determined to learn everything I could about Energy healing, intuition and all things woo-woo. I desperately wanted to find THE modality that would be ‘my thing’.  But the more I learned the more I realised that there was no single option that entirely resonated with me. I’d hear someone say, “You have to do it this way,” and something inside me would bristle. I started to understand that my path as a healer wasn’t going to look exactly like anyone else’s and that’s actually a good thing.

If you’re currently trying to navigate your own way along the healing path and feeling pressured to gather up the “correct” qualification for you, I want to share my experience and encourage you to trust that your unique blend of learning, connection & Energy is exactly what’s needed.

The Early Days: Learning from Everyone and Everything

My beginning in this work saw me throwing myself into every class or course I could find. From Reiki to crystal healing to shamanic workshops, I was determined to “get it right.” (There was probably a decent sized chunk of FOMO feeding that desire to learn too!). I thought there was some kind of magical formula I needed to learn to be a “real” Healer. But along the way, I started to feel overwhelmed. Different teachers taught different methods; sometimes completely contradictory. The rules often felt rigid: You must do this; you can’t do that.

It took me a while to understand that these different methods weren’t necessarily right or wrong - they were just different. Each teacher was sharing their own way, based on what worked for them. And slowly, I realised that it was okay if I resonated with some parts and not others. That realisation allowed me to start crafting my own approach to healing, one that felt authentic to me.

Trusting What Feels Right for You

As I learned to tune into my own intuition, I found that some things resonated deeply, while others just didn’t fit. I started to realise that when I felt frustrated or uneasy about a technique, it wasn’t me being “difficult” or “judgmental” - it was just Spirit’s way of nudging me towards my own methods. Instead of doubting myself, I learned to see this feeling as guidance. Spirit was helping me discern what worked for me and what didn’t.

Learning to listen to that inner guidance is a huge part of finding your unique path. The more you follow your intuition, the more you will realise that healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey. We’re all drawn to different techniques, tools and methods for a reason and it’s important to honour those preferences rather than force yourself to fit into a mould.

Embracing the “Diverse Toolbox” Approach

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that Healing work is expansive and multifaceted. For me, that means incorporating a little bit of everything. I use crystals, aromatherapy, chakra, intuitive Energy work - whatever feels right in the moment for each individual client. I’ve let go of the idea that I have to pick one single method and stick to it. Instead, I trust that I’m guided to use what will be most helpful for each session.

If you’re feeling pressured to “pick a lane”, I want to encourage you to embrace what resonates. You don’t have to limit yourself to one technique or style. Your intuition will guide you toward the right mix, whether it’s crystals, essential oils, hands-on Energy work or something entirely different. Embracing this diversity in your work not only benefits your clients (yes, there will be clients if you don’t have them already) but also keeps your practice fresh and meaningful.

Owning Your Unique Gifts

Over the years, I’ve learned that no two Healers work the same way and that’s a beautiful thing. Our personal experiences, strengths and insights make our work unique. For example, I get “confirmation burps,” body tingles and sometimes even little (or loud!) gurgles in my stomach as signs that I’m on the right track. These quirky little things are just part of the way I work and I’ve learned to accept them as my unique “signs” from Spirit.

Your journey is going to have its own set of quirks, too. Maybe you experience your gifts through images, emotions or physical sensations. Maybe you have your own form of “confirmation” that Spirit uses to communicate with you. Whatever it is, trust that it’s yours for a reason. Embrace these unique aspects of your work because they’re what make your practice authentic and powerful.

The Freedom to Change, Grow and Adapt

One of the best parts of this journey is that it’s always evolving. Just as Spirit doesn’t stop teaching us, we shouldn’t stop exploring new tools, techniques or methods. I’ve found that the more I allow myself to adapt and grow, the more aligned my work becomes. Being flexible and open to change means that your practice can grow alongside you and evolve to meet the needs of the people you work with.

If you’re feeling boxed in or pressured to do things a certain way, remember that it’s okay to break out of that box. Trust that your journey will look different from others and that’s what makes it powerful.

Final Thoughts: Honour Your Unique Path

Finding your own way as a Healer is about staying true to yourself and your own unique connection to Spirit or whatever you believe in. The more you let go of external expectations and internal self doubt, the more you’ll find a rhythm and flow that feels natural to you. Embrace what resonates, experiment with what intrigues you and trust that you’re exactly where you need to be on your path.
